Self introduction, group discussion, and extempore communication essentials.
🗣️ Communication Modules
🔹 Self Introduction
A strong self-introduction is your first impression, and it should clearly communicate who you are, what you do, and where you’re heading. It should be concise yet impactful, typically lasting 30–60 seconds.
Key Focus Areas:
- Background: Your education, current role, or area of study
- Skills: Key technical or soft skills relevant to your domain
- Experience/Projects: Highlight 1–2 meaningful projects (e.g., Civic Connect, GridWars)
- Goals: Your short-term or long-term aspirations
Recommended Structure:
Present → Past → Skills → Goals
Example Flow:
- Start with who you are currently
- Briefly mention your academic or professional background
- Highlight your key skills and projects
- End with what you are looking for or aiming to achieve
🔹 Group Discussion (GD)
Group Discussions evaluate your ability to communicate ideas clearly, collaborate in a team, and think critically under pressure.
Key Skills:
- Active Listening: Understand others before responding
- Clarity of Thought: Speak in a structured and logical way
- Respectful Interaction: Avoid interrupting and acknowledge others’ ideas
- Initiation & Leadership: Starting or summarizing discussions adds value
Best Practices:
- Start with a brief and relevant point if you initiate
- Build on others’ ideas instead of repeating them
- Keep your points concise and structured
- Avoid dominating the discussion
Common Mistakes:
- Speaking too much without substance
- Interrupting others
- Going off-topic
- Not participating at all
🔹 Extempore
Extempore tests your ability to think and speak spontaneously on a given topic with minimal preparation.
Structure:
- Introduction: Define or interpret the topic
- Body: Present 2–3 key points with examples or reasoning
- Conclusion: Summarize your thoughts or give a closing statement
Tips:
- Take a few seconds to organize your thoughts before speaking
- Keep your ideas simple and structured
- Use examples to support your points
- Maintain a steady pace and avoid filler words
Goal:
The goal is not perfection, but clarity, confidence, and logical flow.
